  1. Pour the powdered sample in the small vial into the larger tube.
  2. Slowly fill the tube with water to the very top of the tube, screw the blue cap on tightly, and shake until the powder is completely dissolved.
  3. Open the heater package, peel the paper off one heater, and stick it to the back side of the tube, directly opposite the temperature strip.
  4. Before conducting your experiment, verify the temperature.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Always call or email in advance of your experiment if you have any questions instead of guessing.
  • Before conducting the sample simulation, ensure that the sample’s temperature is between 90 and 99 degrees. Samples outside of that temperature range could potentially invalidate the experiment.
  • It is recommended to start with room temperature water instead of hot or warm water as the provided heater will bring the water up to the correct temperature range. Use only one heater unless you need to reach the proper temperature faster.
  • If the temperature strip does not show any reading, it means that the sample is either too cold or too hot. The temperature strip is highly accurate and reusable, and it is the highest quality component of the kit.
  • If the sample is too cold, allow the heater to raise the temperature. If it is too hot, remove the cap and heater and gently blow on the sample until it reaches the correct range.
  • Practice cooling the water by placing the tube in hot water at the sink, driving the temperature above 100 degrees. Then gently blow on the liquid to bring the temperature within the 90 to 99-degree range. This will allow you to see the rainbow temperature indicator on the strip and give you experience lowering the temperature in case it rises above 100 degrees.
  • Ensure the heater is not too close to the temperature strip, as it may measure the heater instead of the water. Use rubber bands or adhesive tape to secure the fit between the heater and the tube.
  • Do not remove the heater from the tube unless the sample is too hot, as doing so will cause the temperature to fall outside the required range of 90 to 99 degrees.
  • Do not rush, as the heaters are single-use. Confirm the timing before preparing the kit.
  • If your experiment requires more than 50 ml, carry a small vial of water to dilute the sample up to the minimum level of 75 ml. Be careful not to affect the temperature too much.
  • After the sample is ready, women can conceal it in the bra area, while men can wear two pairs of briefs and slip the tube between the layers.
